Grid congestion? VBsynergy provides additional capacity
Many projects are stalled by grid congestion. Additional charging stations, heat pumps, or new construction are often impossible without a more robust connection. VBsynergy breaks through this limitation: a single platform that intelligently manages batteries, solar panels, charging stations, and HVAC systems. The building itself acts as a buffer, ensuring optimal capacity utilization and allowing plans to proceed.
You have received a warning letter from the grid operator that the contract value has been exceeded.
You want to make your home more sustainable or install additional charging stations, but the connection doesn't allow it.
You want to build a new building, but you do not have enough capacity to realise the project.
Turn the lights green again and take the initiative
With VBsynergy, all energy flows in the building are intelligently coordinated. Solar panels, batteries, charging stations, and climate control systems work together in a single, integrated control system. This smooths peaks, creates more space within the existing connection, and keeps the energy system stable.
VBsynergy gives organizations control over their plans and ambitions again
Our approach in 3 steps
1
Insight; knowing where you stand
We clearly map out your energy consumption: what's truly essential and where there's flexibility. Using smart monitoring and data analysis, we show what's already possible within your existing connection and which options offer additional flexibility. Where necessary, we use simulations, for example, to determine the ideal battery size or to visualize the benefits of heat pump control. The result: a concrete action plan with an investment proposal and business case.
2
Implementation; working together
We connect systems—such as charging stations, batteries, heat pumps, and HVAC—safely and intelligently to the platform. Together with your installer, we ensure everything is correct: from setpoints and power levels to the connection with the building management system (BMS). We've been successfully applying this structured approach to HVAC projects for years, forming the foundation for a reliable start.
3
Operational management; always the right choices
From now on, the system takes control. Based on weather forecasts, energy prices, capacity, and comfort, we predict the smartest use of the battery, solar panels, and/or heat pump. This way, you charge at the right times, avoid exceeding limits, and optimally use the building as a buffer. The "conductor" maintains control 24/7, proactively manages via the appropriate connection (e.g., BMS), and provides continuous insight with clear reports.

What customers say
This is exactly what I expect from a smart climate controller.
Colleagues working in the offices are convinced by the indoor climate and comfort level, on the other hand, the benefits of energy consumption become clear when making a comparison with other office buildings.
How cool that I get to experience this technology before I retire.
The ecoBuilding simulations showed us exactly which battery capacity type we had to use in combination with the available connection capacity.
The pilot demonstrated substantial energy savings of as much as 35%. We are very happy about that!
EcoBuilding is now running well and we are saving significantly. Thanks to VB Optimum, many optimisations have become visible that we didn't know about. Now we are steering the installation in a targeted way to optimal operation.
My climate system has become much easier to understand thanks to the insights and VB Optimum knowledge.
FAQ
The consequences depend on your situation. Consider:
- No permission for a new or larger connection.
- Delays in sustainability projects (e.g., charging plazas or heat pumps).
- Restrictions imposed by the grid operator, limiting your capacity to purchase or supply.
- Risk of higher costs or downtime in production and operations.
- Frustration among tenants or users if comfort or continuity is compromised.
VBoptimum helps organizations intelligently manage existing and planned assets—such as heat pumps, batteries, and charging stations—with smart software. With VBsynergy, you maximize your connection: installations are predictively controlled based on capacity, energy prices, and comfort. This prevents projects from stalling and maintains flexibility during the energy transition.
Furthermore, it's possible to proactively deploy available capacity from, for example, a battery or solar panels, on the flexibility markets (day-ahead or imbalance) or within flexible contracts with grid operators such as CBC (see the Netherlands Enterprise Agency's website). For day-ahead and imbalance, you need an energy supplier who can facilitate this. And for contracts with grid operators such as CBC, you need a so-called BSP (Balance Service Party). VBoptimum is happy to tell you more about this and show you how we can provide this.
The first step is always to collect and analyze data: where and when do peaks in your consumption or feed-in occur? Based on this, you can create an effective plan.
- Smart system management allows you to avoid peaks by spreading consumption throughout the day.
- You can create additional capacity with a battery, which temporarily buffers power and absorbs peaks.
- Combining insight and management: it often turns out that significant gains can be achieved with existing systems without expensive expansions.
- With VBsynergy, you can simulate scenarios and make informed choices for the right approach.
That might seem obvious at first glance, but in reality, it often offers opportunities for smarter energy management and cost recovery. By better utilizing grid capacity and intelligently controlling installations, investments in things like batteries or heat pumps can actually yield additional returns.
Using smart software and simulations, we look not only at the technical solution but also at how you can gain financial benefit. In some cases, it even turns out that a smaller battery is sufficient, or that payback periods are shorter than expected.
Curious how that works? In our blog, we show you how to make the right choices with smart control and simulations:
Which battery is right for your situation? Smart simulations provide the answer.
The first step is the VBoptimum Prescan, optionally with a simulation of electrical assets. We use this to analyze your building, connections, and installations. We then show you how to optimally utilize your grid capacity with smart software and, if necessary, small investments. This way, you can make sustainability a reality without waiting years.
Yes, the customer always retains 100% ownership of all data we collect. VBoptimum uses this data exclusively to analyze your installations, manage them intelligently, and generate reports.
The gateways are connected via the building management system (BMS) or directly to assets such as batteries or charging stations. A BACnet server gateway is used for HVAC control. A MODbus gateway is used for direct control of batteries, charging stations, or inverters. Both gateways are secure, meet all applicable safety requirements, and are ISO27001-certified. The MODbus gateway also has additional features that ensure continuity in the event of, for example, a temporary internet outage.
Our standard operating method is based on one-way traffic: the building itself sends the data to the gateway. Therefore, no open external connection is required. This is more secure because the data only goes from the building to our software, and not the other way around. This approach provides additional security and meets the requirements of many IT departments. VBoptimum can provide a whitepaper upon request that further explains the operation and security.
VBoptimum and our partners and infrastructure partners, such as Priva and Microsoft, take information security very seriously. Our infrastructure and processes comply with the ISO 27001 standard. This means that all data is processed and stored securely, and is only accessible to authorized employees. We therefore meet the strictest privacy and security requirements. All documentation is available for review upon consultation.
The grid operator is responsible for the capacity of the electricity grid. But businesses and building owners also have a role to play: by managing energy efficiently, you can prevent additional strain on the grid. VBoptimum helps you do this by giving you control over your installations, allowing you to take control yourself instead of waiting for grid expansion.
Yes. The government encourages flexibility and smart energy use. Consider:
SDE++ subsidy for sustainable energy generation and CO2 reduction.
MIA/Vamil schemes for tax benefits on sustainable investments, such as batteries.
Flexibility contracts (Flex-E), through which the government stimulates the development of flexibility by subsidizing flexibility scans, feasibility studies, and even the implementation of measures such as battery purchases. Note: the scheme runs/ran until October 15, 2025. Check the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) website for the current status.
VBoptimum helps you understand which scheme or subsidy best suits your situation and how smart software like VBsynergy can optimally support this.
